Mobile Marketing Mondays – Smartphone Data Usage Up 89% [CHART]
After surveying 65,000+ cellphone bills, Nielsen is reporting an astronomical increase in smartphone data usage: in the last 12 months alone, the amount of data the average smartphone user consumes rose 89%. This represents an increase from 230 megabytes (MB) in Q1 of 2010, to 435 MB in Q1 of 2011.
A further look at the distribution of this increase provides some deeper insight into the above-average smartphone user. As the chart above shows, data usage for the top 10% of smartphone users has more than doubled. When you add the numbers here to these 5 mobile stats, the need for a mobile website, outside of simply reaching patients and providing a better online experience, becomes clear.
With such an increase in the overall data consumption, how can you grab the attention of your current patients, and turn new visitors into new patients? Create a mobile version of your practice’s website. Doing so allows new visitors to access and interact with your site from their mobile device and ensures they have the best possible experience with the virtual representation of your practice.
