Keep Your Website Off the Panda Diet

As you may know, pandas found in the wild eat the leaves, stems, and shoots of several different bamboo varieties to which they have access, and they have absolutely no idea your website even exists (nor do they care). However, the title of our post is not in reference to pandas found in the wild. No, the title of our post is alluding to a man-made panda of sorts; one engineered specifically to consume websites with poor quality content. For those of you who haven’t guessed it yet, we’re talking about Google’s Panda.

Earlier this week, Google rolled out a new and improved version of Panda – an algorithm update the search engine giant originally launched in 2011. Dubbed Panda 4.0, this evolved version of Panda is essentially an upgrade to the formula Google currently uses to prevent spammy websites with low quality content from appearing in top search results.

So how does this Google update affect your dental or medical website? In short, if you aren’t proactive in ensuring your website remains a viable resource for online viewers, Panda 4.0 is likely to eat and dispose of your site like bamboo. An excellent way to help prevent this from happening, however, is to implement a solid content marketing strategy.

With a content marketing plan customized for your practice, you can be sure original, quality content is being added to your site on a consistent basis. Not only does this help position you favorably in Google’s eyes (which can improve your SEO), but it also provides your patients with valuable information they can access when conducting research on the treatments and services you provide.
